- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup diced bell pepper
- 1/2 cup diced celery
- 1 can 15 oz tomato sauce
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hamburger buns
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- Sliced pickles and sliced jalapeos for topping
Instructions:
In a skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned
Drain any excess fat
Place the cooked beef, diced onion, diced bell pepper, diced celery, tomato sauce, ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper into a slow cooker
Stir everything together, cover the slow cooker, and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 3-4 hours until the vegetables are tender and the flavors meld together
When ready to serve, split the hamburger buns and lightly toast them
Spoon the loaded sloppy joe mixture onto the bottom half of each bun, sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese, and top with sliced pickles and sliced jalapeos
Place the top half of the bun on top, securing your loaded sloppy joe burger
Serve hot and enjoy!
